“Ganesha” Cushion in support of RED CROSS-Fort McMurray Fire

redcrossAbout The Canadian Red Cross

The Canadian Red Cross‘ mission is to improve the lives of vulnerable people by mobilizing the power of humanity in Canada and around the world.

How They Help

A massive wildfire in Fort McMurray, Alta., has threatened a dozen communities in the area since it started spreading on May 1.A mandatory evacuation has forced all 70,000 Fort McMurray residents to leave their homes in search of safety – the largest fire-related evacuation in the province’s history. The fire has destroyed homes in several areas and is threatening downtown. Canadian Red Cross is on alert with personnel and stock ready to deploy to the affected area as needed. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau confirmed in the House of Commons that his government will match individual donations made to the Red Cross in support of relief efforts in Fort McMurray. Moving forward, the Red Cross continues to support impacted individuals and families and is committed to helping them recover from these devastating fires over the months and years ahead. This includes financial support for community rebuilding initiatives.

BFO Southern Ontario“Angel Wings” Cushion in support of Bereaved Families of Ontario

About Bereaved Families of Ontario

Bereaved Families of Ontario – Southwest Region is a non profit organization which provides support services to hundreds of families throughout Southwestern Ontario who have experienced the death of a child or children.

How They Help

Bereaved Families of Ontario is a mutual aid/self-help group that bring people together who share a common experience and provide a safe place where members can talk about their loss, share their story, and express their grief. Through the self-help process, we no longer feel alone. We feel hopeful as we see how others have coped, and learn about our grief as a normal response to loss. Participants find a comforting network of caring people building trust and relationships. Our meetings and groups are facilitated by trained bereaved parent volunteers. The real benefit of groups lies in the principle that as we help others, we help ourselves.
